-- Freedom and Independence --

In 1998 Pakistan-Lahore will be the place of this year's most important Asian cultural events: which mark Pakistan's first year in the second half of it's century of independence.

In the frame of these ceremonies several cultural initiatives, art-festivals and meetings will be realized. One of the main features will be the Fourth International Puppet Festival Pakistan - 1998.

The aim of our Festival is to present the actual picture and development of the modern theatre on art which went through an exciting and significant evolution in our century, lifting it to be a major partner to the other modern scenical forms of expression.

The festival committee is chosing a number of the most qualified groups and individuals coming from Europe as well as from other continents.

For any further information you should contact the Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop.

Participation...

We would like the festival to remain broad-based and free so that the productions are not tied down to one theme only. We would be very interested in plays with subject matter which is against oppression be it political, economic, racial, religious or against any group.

We cannot provide travel expenses nor can we pay the participating groups. However, we will take care of hotel stay, food, local, transportation and sightseeing tours to some historic sites in the city of Lahore.

We can also provide a variety of lighting & sound equipment.

If you are interested in participating then you should contact us, sending us complete details of yourselves and the production you wish to bring to the festival.
