UNIMA
Pakistan was formed on 15th February 1993 at # 25-F/3, Block-D, National
Homes, New Muslim Town, Lahore. This address will be later shifted to the
Museum of Puppetry as soon as the space
is allocated.
Setting up of UNIMA in Pakistan is an other important step taken after the First International Puppet Festival Pakistan, 1992 and was also one of its main objectives of the festival.

UNIMA stands for Union International de la Marionnette (The Union of International Puppeteers of the world). The organization is a member of UNESCO and the IIT (International Institute of Theatre).
Since 1984, some new National Centres have been born or are ready to be born, and many new members have joined UNIMA. One can say that this organization has about 8,000 members from 74 countries.
The organization has 47 National Centres. The last created are those of Burundi, Cyprus, Denmark, Togo, Sierra Leone and Zaire, without counting those in formation such as Canada (which is composed of only one regional section-Quebec), Madagascar and Turkey.
