NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The history of Gloves Industry is connected with the introduction
of Cricket game and the manufacturing of cricket bat in Sialkot. The
requirements of Cricket game also covered the "batting gloves" "wicket keeper
gloves" and "inner gloves" which commenced in the end of 20th
Century. Similarly during the 2nd World War more variety of Gloves
was introduced like "baseball gloves" etc. and in 1956 Special Varieties of
gloves for "Winter Sports" like, Ice-hockey gloves, Ski Gloves were introduced.
In 1958 the range of working Gloves was introduced by Sialkot Gloves industry.
Gradually, with the growth and achievements, Sialkot became the centre of Gloves
Manufacturing for all sports. With the enhancement of manufacturing units and
demand from international market, the business Community put immense efforts for
export.
Undoubtedly, the Gloves Industry did exist and was producing and
exporting Gloves, but completely in a scattered and disorganized manner.
Individual manufacturers / exporters were striving hard to operate their
business and because of non-availability of any platform from where the
concerned businessmen could raise their voice to resolve their problems, a group
of enthusiastic Gloves industrialists took serious note and planned to form a
BODY which could safeguard the interest of Gloves Industry as well as to boost
up the exports of Gloves to earn more foreign exchange for the benefit of
national exchequer.
Hence with this
prime aim and objectives the Pakistan Gloves Manufacturers and Exporters Association came into
being in December 1978 as a licensed Business Support Organization / Trade Body recognized by the
Government of
Pakistan. In 1979 PGMEA got affiliation with the Apex Body of Trade and
Industrial Bodies in the Country called Pakistan Federation of Chambers and
Industry (FPCCI) and got registration as “A” class Association status and to
serve Gloves Industrial Sector (ALL SORT) on ALL PAKISTAN BASIS. Hence PGMEA
stands on exclusive Trade Body for Gloves of all sorts.
The Affairs of the ASSOCIATION are managed
and administered by an Executive Committee comprising of 12-Members
comprising - Chairman, Sr. Vice Chairman, Vice Chairman and Nine Members.
