History and Establishment
Cadet Colleges were first introduced in the Bismarkian Germany and the Nepoleonic France, where the military and Royal aristocracy used to send their childern/wards for education, as well as a carrier in the Royal Army. In Pakistan, Cadet Colleges were introduced by late Field Marshal, Muhammad Ayub Khan and these were initially established at Hasanabdal, Kohat and Petaro.
In pursuance of the recommendations of the Commission on National Education of the defunct Govt. of West Pakistan decided to establish another Cadet College to be the third in the province. The proposal received the approval of the Pakistan Planning Commission and financial provision for the Project was included in the Second, Third and Fourth five-year Development Plans.
In recognition of the military services of the people of the area, Mr. Fateh Khan Bandial, the then Deputy Commissioner, Kohat, requested late Malik Amir Muhammad Khan , H.Pk, H.Q.A., the then Governor of West Pakistan that a Cadet College should be established at Kohat. Mr Fateh Khan acquired 144 acres of land for the college. The foundation-stone was laid by late Malik Amir M. Khan, on 19th April,1964 and construction work was taken in hand vigorously.
The first entry of cadets was accepted in April, 1965. Academic work started in this College with 58 cadets and one House i.e Jinnah House. Lt. Col. (Retd.) Faizullah Khattak (late) was the founder Principal. The college owes its succcess and prosperity to his sincere and consistent efforts.
How this institution has served the nation & the country in general and the people of this area in particular and how it has come upto the expectations of the people on the whole can be ascertained from the achievements of the college spread over the past 36 years.
Fifty-eight cadets of the first entry appeared in the Secondry School Certificate Examinations in march 1968. All these cadets passed in frist division & since then, outstanding results have become the hallmark of the College.
Although the college does not prepare its students for a purely Military career, its worth mentioning that the cadets of this institution have surpassed other institutions in obtaining commission in the Armed Forces. To give an example, out of 107 cadets who had applied for commission in Defence Forces in the year 1971, 95 were selected by Inter Services Selection Board. This is the highest percentage of success achieved so far by a single educational institution in the country.
