Movies

July 31' 01: Lahore-- there has been a lot happening on the movie front. I have been slightly behind the movies' scene though. I have got to catch up quick--so much to see, so little time! Here's a list of some of the movies I saw this summer. It is by no means a complete list...its a work in progress.

Hannibal--an okay movie. A bit gruesome in places. It wasn't as good as the first - "Silence of the lambs". They left a place right at the end for another sequel. Dr. Hannibal the Cannibal was still chilling to watch in action though.

Someone like you--soppy/romantic comedy. Boy meets girl. Boy dumps girl. Girl heartbroken--forms cow theory. Becomes famous. Finds true love with boy next door. Understands finally people are not cows. An okay movie. Good for a few laughs.

Evolution--David Duchovny, J. Moore--alien protoplasm lands on earth with a meteor shower...this spawns a whole new evolution of life. This is worse than alien invasion. The only way to kill this new life is to use head and shoulders shampoo! Funny and satirical. Pokes fun at Darwin's evolution theory. I enjoyed it.

Mummy returns--action. Felt like a roller coaster ride. Enjoy. Not bad for a sequel. Saw it three times. Loved the action. Felt sorry for the mummy. Poor thing. His girl friend dumps him right at the end. They could have done better than that.

Lara Croft--Tomb raider: action, thriller. A few original action sequences. Script is okay too. Not bad as far as video games to live movie action goes.

American sweethearts--poor fat younger sister gets her man when she loses weight. An okay film I guess. I am not sure what I am supposed to think--it wasn't really all that funny even though Billy Crystal tried so hard. Good acting though. Everyone did a good job. Weak story.

Shrek--funny and entertaining : unexpected end. Not your usual fairy tale...

Heartbreakers--funny. Good script. Good acting.

Legally Blonde--It was a typical  movie about teenage, peer pressure, school, and life but what the heck, I loved the movie. I liked the  tongue in cheek humor. Good fun.
